Slagerij 't Oude Ambacht and Marqt
Tip from Anne: the butcher in the Reinkenstraat (see our specific page) makes fresh meals for infants so that you do not need the Olvarit so often.
Also Marqt sent us a twitter message that they have organic food for baby and infants. Very handy when you as a career Mum/Dad have little time to spare.
Kicking Horse KinderKookcafé at Paagman

Then you can make your own chips, pancakes and milkshakes. However, if you prefer to rap or drum, acting or painting that is also possible. If you just want to cook that is also fine. There are workshops for schools and clubs. Blind tastings (which cola do you prefer), healthy eating, cake baking, decorating etc.

Ziani in the Reinkenstraat (105) is a well known restaurant where you can have a very relaxed meal with the kids. Here they love little kids, they even have an area in the middle of the restaurant with toys, where the little ones can play. The staff are very good at this, children can roam around and draw and colour. If you want to have a pizza in the area without the kids then go a little later.. You can eat great Italian food there. The Reinkenstraat is one of the nicest streets in the The Hague.

MeneerdeKok and taste lessons at school
Schools play an ever more important part in the upbringing of our children. Jamie Oliver did it in England. MeneerdeKok does it in The Hague and surroundings. Meneerdekok offers a package of lessons to schools that want their pupils to learn more about healthy nutrition. In 8 lessons (to be determined together), Meneerdekok teaches a class about healthy and unhealthy nutrition, about vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Food knowledge is an important part of the lessons, of course, since to eat healtily you need to know precisely what you are eating. That is exactly the philosophy of Smaakweb: start at school!! They also organize children's parties, either at their location in Rijswijk or at your home, or taste seminars, during which children take part in a number of taste tests. Can you tell the difference while blindfolded between an apple and an onion, or between cola and orange soda? This seminar can be combined with a workshop to get the children actually working with food. www.meneerdekok.nl.
Butcher Englebert and cheese from the "Green hart"
Nico Englebert organised an outing for class 7 of the Nutschool in The Hague to the Cheese Farm of Marije van der Poel in the “Groene Hart”: Marije makes here own prize winning cheeses and children learn that cheese does not come from a factory.
If your school is interested ask Nico Engelbert the butcher for information! www.englebertstijlslagerij.nl
Party at bakery Hessing
At bakers Frans en Hans Hessing children can bake rolls in around 1½ to 2 hours with instructions and a tour of the bakery and the shop. Then they can start themselves to make various rolls. Of course they get something to drink and can choose to eat something from the bakery; they bring home what they have baked. www.bakkerijhessing.nl
